I was riding pretty high after covering the Dodge Viper and lusty !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . But My press car this week has just three cylinders and one turbo. It’s a 1L EcoBoost powered Focus!

I have this thing all week and I will be rigorously tracking my fuel economy with pen and paper; not just the in dash widget. I’ll be using it to jump-start my 383-powered Chrysler and I’ll otherwise be putting it through its paces. Ask me anything about the car and I’ll get info your way!

Right now the question is whether the 1L engine justifies the $1,600 price premium. (in Canada)

How does it sound? Do you feel safe trying to merge onto the 401 in it?

How does the 1 litre car feel? Quick on the throttle?

It’s got lag like an old 930. kinda fun actually. You stomp on it and there’s a good 1.5 secs of nothing before the boost pushes you along. But was the boost is on, it’s decently quick

It’s not bad actually. Cruises comfortably at 110kmh and has no trouble merging. Sound is cool! It’s got a low pitched three-cylinder warble and you can actually hear the turbo whooshing and hissing

I’m an auto journalist. Dropped out of marketing school and decided to try my hand at talking about cars for a living. I can answer more specific questions if you’re thinking of getting into it as a career.

What was your trick to getting your foot in the door?

Its something I’d love to do but it seems like such a closed door thing honestly

I certainly didn’t “know” anyone. Step one is start a blog. Cultivate an audience and find your writing style. My website in college was thelifemechanical.com

The next thing to do is sent out tons of emails to anyone you can get ahold of at any publication. I went through the masthead of each car publication I could find and sent a personalized email to each one with links to my work. Probably about 3-400 in total. Eventually, one got back to me with an offer and I never left!

Shoot me an email @ clayton.seams@gmail.com if you want to talk further about this. I also know some folks who are looking for writers if your stuff is up to par. Hope this helps!

Thank you so so much for that! Thats honestly the main reason I came to Oppo was to find a place to share my writings! I appreciate it so much and know where to find you

By how many times does this car multiply the Chrysler’s fuel economy?
